Bison Generations

Winter is fast approaching in Yellowstone. My last trips through the Hayden Valley were without any significant wildlife sightings. With leaves turning to the south in the Tetons, I’ve spent most of my time there. This image is a digitally watercolored photograph of an adult and juvenile bison when the smoke was still heavy in the Hayden Valley. I could imagine the dad saying, “Time to go son.” In a couple of days, all the bison seemed to have moved north and east.
